'Lorenzo Romar returned as head coach for the Pepperdine Waves' basketball team for the 2018-19 season. He was formerly the head coach for the Pepperdine Waves for three years between 1996-97 and 1998-99. Romar's first season with the Waves was focused on building the program, but his next two seasons earned 17 and 19 wins, respectively. Afterward, he served for 15 years as the head coach for the University of Washington and then for one year as associate head coach for the University of Arizona. Over a career spanning 21 seasons through 2018-19, Romar has a career record of 391-284 overall and 42-44 in his three seasons with the Waves.'

William Averitt (1970-1973) had two of the school's greatest seasons when he averaged 28.9 points as a sophomore and 33.9 points as a junior. Dane Suttle was the school's all-time scoring leader in points, assists, field goals, steals and games played for many years, and his total scoring of 1,701 still stands in 2019. The floor area at the Firestone Fieldhouse is around 11,000 square feet.'
