''In May 2013, Jean-Guy Trudel became the 19th head coach of the Peoria Rivermen. Trudel is the first head coach for the team during the period of time they've been in the Southern Professional Hockey League. He's the third former player to later lead the team as a head coach. The 2019-2020 season is Trudel's seventh year as a professional head coach. In his first six years as head coach, Trudel had a regular season of 215-80-41 with a playoff appearance each year for his team. Under his leadership, the team won the William B. Coffey Trophy in consecutive seasons with the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons. They won the title back-to-back again in the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons. Trudel achieved the SPHL Coach of the Year honor three times during his tenure making him the first coach in the history of the SPHL to win the award more than once.'
