With the major hubs of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh dominating the east and west ends of the state, the cultural epicenters of Scranton, Harrisburg and Lancaster are just an added bonus.

Pennsylvania venues

Sports fans will have a lot of major teams to cheer on, with MLB's Pittsburgh Pirates holding fast in the west and the Philadelphia Phillies locked into the east. When it comes to football, the Pittsburgh Steelers dominate the AFC while the Philadelphia Eagles play in the NFC. Pennsylvania is also home to a variety of other professional sports teams, including hockey, basketball, soccer and more.

Concert-goers will appreciate visits to Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center, which regularly hosts major touring performers, or KeyBank Pavilion in Burgettstown on the outskirts of Pittsburgh. Both cities are home to dozens of other smaller venues featuring not only famous traveling musicians and comedians, but also smaller local acts. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Orchestra, one of the five most famous in the nation, plays at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts.
