''Orange County SC — the only professional soccer squad to represent the beautiful and historic Californian county — was officially founded in 2011 as one of 12 charter members of the new United Soccer League, now the second-highest soccer league in the United States. Originally known as the Los Angeles Blues, the club opened its inaugural season with a strong 8-9-7 record and a playoff berth under head coach Charlie Naimo. After changing its name to the Orange County Blues FC, the club won the 2015 conference title and qualified for the second round of the postseason tournament. In 2017, it dropped the Blues name and rebranded as today’s Orange County SC. The club achieved its best-ever season in 2018 with a second conference title and a berth in the conference final. Backed by its FanProtect guarantee, StubHub is the best source for Orange County SC tickets to all home and away games.'
'Since 2011, several players have distinguished themselves for their performances. Thomas Enevoldsen holds the club’s single-season scoring record with 20 goals in 2018. Michael Seaton scored 24 goals and 11 assists with Orange County between 2018 and 2019. Goalkeeper Patrick McLain played two seasons for Orange County SC. In 2019, he had 37 saves and a 1.25 goals-against average in 12 matches.'
'Orange County competes with three California teams in USL Championship: intra-city rival LA Galaxy II (a reserve team of the LA Galaxy from the MLS), Sacramento Republic FC and San Diego Loyal SC. Though Sacramento Republic departs for the MLS in 2022, San Diego Loyal is playing its inaugural season in 2020, which could spark an intense annual series between the southern California clubs.'
'After finishing the regular season with 54 points and a 15-10-9 record, No. 5 seed Orange County SC lost to eventual national champion Real Monarchs SLC in the first round of the playoffs 6-2. Real Monarchs went into halftime with a 2-1 lead thanks to goals by Maikel Chang and Douglas Martinez. However, four-straight goals in the second half foreclosed the possibility of a comeback.'
