''Old Dominion first fielded a football team in 1930. At that time, the school was a branch of William & Mary and the team was known as the Braves. The team lasted only 11 seasons, through the bulk of the Great Depression. It was done in by a number of problems, including a $10,000 debt. The Braves were also hampered by regulations prohibiting freshman players. The school had an accreditation issue. World War II was also raging, and the US would soon join in. None of this is a recipe for success in football. Old Dominion revived football as of 2009. One reason was that alumni rarely returned to campus. Exit interviews of students also pointed to a desire for football on campus. ODU was an independent until 2011. The first 10 years of the new program have been considerably less rocky than the previous iteration of the team. The ODU Monarchs have played in Division I FBS's Conference USA since 2014. StubHub is your source for Monarchs tickets.'
'A great way to buy Old Dominion tickets is through the StubHub marketplace. It's convenient and quick, and there's no waiting on hold or in line. There are different levels of tickets, including luxury suites and premium suites.'

The ODU Monarchs play their home games at SB Ballard Stadium. The stadium is located on Old Dominion's campus. It dates to 1936 when it opened with a game against the University of Virginia. During ODU's football hiatus, the annual Oyster Bowl made the stadium its home. The
Washington Redskins
used the stadium for pre-season games at different times in their history. It was also a popular venue for concerts. Bands like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young played the stadium during their famous 1974 reunion tour. By the 2000s, it was home to field hockey and lacrosse. Today, the stadium features an AstroTurf playing surface. It seats over 22,400 fans. The stadium is accessible for fans with disabilities.
''
Old Dominion is coached by Bobby Wilder. He's been with the program since 2007. Before arriving at Old Dominion, he was on the coaching staff at the
University of Maine
. Wilder is a native of Maine and played quarterback for the Black Bears during the 1980s. His overall record at Old Dominion has been an impressive 76–45. Under his leadership, the Monarchs have gone 32–24 in conference play.
''The 2018 season was a challenging one for the ODU Monarchs. They went 4–8 overall in 12 games, with a record of 2–6 in Conference USA games. The team finished in sixth place in their division.'
'
In 2019, the Monarchs will take on Norfolk State,
Virginia Tech
and Marshall, among other teams. It's predicted that ODU will again finish sixth in their division, ahead of Charlotte.
''ODU fans make their presence known wearing blue and white and grilling food before games. ODU's fans are grateful to finally have a football team to support. There are designated tailgating areas at ODU games. Tailgating starts four hours before kickoff. No tailgating is permitted during the game or during halftime. Tailgating is permitted behind vehicles but must not extend into additional spaces or block walkways. No kegs are permitted on campus.'
