They've appeared in the NCAA tournament three times in that period. Huskies head coach Jim Madigan isn't just posting wins, he's also having great success in player development. He had coached a Hobey Baker winner in Adam Gaudette , and players like goaltender Cayden Primeau have made it to the NHL. 'Jim Madigan has been the head coach of the Northeastern Huskies since 2011. Madigan played his college hockey at Northeastern in the early 1980s. He became an assistant coach at Northeastern right after his playing career, from 1986 to 1993. Following that, Madigan worked as a scout for NHL clubs including the New York Islanders. This culminated in a Stanley Cup win with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization in 2009. Since returning to his alma mater, Madigan has led the Huskies to some great results including a 27-win season in 2018-19. The team has won the ECAC tournament twice since his arrival. The Huskies also pulled off a three-peat as champions at the Beanpot tournament in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Madigan's assistants include Jerry Keefe, Mike McLaughlin and Ed Walsh.'

'Do the Northeastern Huskies have any notable rivals?'

'Yes, Northeastern has a notable rivalry with Boston University's Terriers. These teams are located close to each other geographically and meet frequently since they play in the same conference. These are both highly regarded hockey programs, and the teams are generally evenly matched. It's not unusual to see ties or overtime wins when the Huskies and Terriers meet. In 2020, the Huskies defeated the Terriers in double overtime to claim a third-straight Beanpot tournament. The crowd is always riled up when these teams get together, with plenty of custom-made t-shirts and chants in the stands.'
