'Since co-founding the band Oasis in 1991, Noel Gallagher has been a driving force in the rock scene. Being considered at the forefront of the Britpop movement and with music journalists citing his influence on several contemporary bands' success, it is safe to say that Noel Gallagher has had a big impact on music in the '90s and into the new millennium. Born on May 29, 1967, in Manchester, England, Noel Gallagher started learning guitar in his teens as a way of passing the time while dealing with his turbulent childhood. He began by learning the songs he listened to on the radio and moved on to writing songs of his own, which he has been well known for throughout his career. Not taking a great interest in high school, Gallagher went through several construction jobs before befriending the Manchester band Inspiral Carpets. Fate would have it that he would join them as a roadie, following them on their US tour, a trip that would be his first intimate brush with the band life. When he returned, Noel Gallagher joined his brother Liam's band, The Rain. The group eventually become known as Oasis.'

In 1994, after Oasis' debut album,
Definitely Maybe
, received critical acclaim and worldwide success, it was clear that Noel Gallagher's song-writing prowess was a natural talent.
Definitely Maybe
went on to top the UK Album charts with four popular singles from the album. Subsequently, Oasis would release six more albums,
(What's the Story) Morning Glory
in 1995,
Be Here Now
in 1997,
Standing on the Shoulder of Giants
in 2000,
Heathen Chemistry
in 2002,
Don't Believe the Truth
in 2005 and
Dig Out Your Soul
in 2008. Oasis disbanded in 2009, but Noel Gallagher wasn't about to allow for a long hiatus before returning to writing music and performing. In 2010, he ignited his solo project, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds as his musical vehicle. If the new group is reminiscent of Oasis, it is because, other than Noel, the touring band includes former Oasis guitarist Gem Archer, former Oasis drummer Chris Sharrock and former Oasis pianist Mike Rowe.
