'New York City FC Tickets'

'New York City FC officially became the 20th franchise in MLS history on May 21, 2013. It was the culmination of a passionate, years-long effort to bring a second soccer club to the city. With the vertiginous rise of the sport’s popularity in North America, the MLS approached several ownership groups about establishing a second team, but it didn’t become a reality until the new franchise was awarded to the City Football Group and the Yankees. Upon making its debut for the 2015 season, the club became a regular playoff contender. It made the Eastern Conference semifinals for three years in a row between 2016 and 2018. Then, it captured its first regular-season conference title in 2019. The club has also competed in the US Open Cup and the CONCACAF Champions League. 'Who are some of the top players in New York City history?'

'Despite its young history, NYC has had several outstanding performances. Forward David Villa led the team in goals between 2015 and 2018, while Heber Araujo dos Santos led all scorers in 2019 with 15 goals. Midfielder Maximiliano Moralez also led the club in assists between 2017 and 2019.'

'What was New York City FC’s record last season?'

'New York City FC finished at the top of the 2019 Eastern Conference standings — and second in the entire MLS — with 64 points and a record of 18-6-10. After receiving a first-round bye in the playoffs, New York City fell 2-1 to the fourth seed and eventual Eastern Conference champion Toronto FC. With both their top strikers out, the teams traded goals early on. Alejandro Pozuelo scored for Toronto in the 47th minute, while Ismael Tajouri-Shradi drew NYC even with a goal in the 69th minute. But NYC lost in heartbreaking fashion when Pozuelo scored again on a penalty kick in the 90th minute.'

'Does New York City FC have any rivals?'

'The rivalry between New York City FC and the New York Red Bulls is known as the Hudson River Derby. Starting in 2020, the teams will begin competing for an annual trophy.'

'

New York City currently plays most home games at

Yankee Stadium

. Sections 236 and 237 in Yankee Stadium are designated as the supporters' section. NYC’s main supporter group is the Third Rail, which derives its name from the third rail of a subway system. The Third Rail leads the crowd in chants and cheers throughout the match. The club's ownership group is pursuing a plan for a 25,000-seat soccer-specific stadium in the South Bronx, so the games may be quite different in the future.
