'The New Mexico Lobos began making noise on a national level when they earned their first NCAA Tournament berth in 1968. Their 15th appearance in the tournament happened in 2014. Since then, the No. 1 goal has always been to get New Mexico back to the Big Dance. The Lobos have reached the Sweet Sixteen round of the NCAA tournament on two occasions. Fans of the Lobos have also had the opportunity to see the team they love accumulate an 18-20 record in 19 National Invitational Tournament appearances. The success of the Lobos begins in their own conference, however. The team has emerged as champions of the regular season of the Mountain West on four occasions. The Lobos have also won four Mountain West Tournament Championships. Paul Weir is the man in charge in Albuquerque, N.M., as the team prepares to bring their special brand of excitement to Dreamstyle Arena. Grab New Mexico Lobos' tickets at StubHub.'

The New Mexico Lobos call the
Dreamstyle Arena
home. The arena is often referred to as The Pit due to a playing floor that is below street level. The arena is located on the south campus of the University of New Mexico and averages more than 15,000 screaming Lobos fans per game.
''
It is not so surprising that a major rival of the New Mexico Lobos is the in-state opponent the
New Mexico State Aggies
. The unique history the Lobos share with the
UTEP Miners
also translates to an exciting 40 minutes of basketball. The Lobos will have their eye on the top of the division which spells trouble for last year's champion and runner-up, Nevada and Boise State, respectively.
''Many outstanding players have donned the uniform of the Lobos. Some of them have gone on to enjoy a career in the NBA. Michael Cooper played shooting guard for the Lobos before being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 1978. Cooper was an integral part of the Lakers for 13 seasons. Danny Granger followed up a great collegiate career at New Mexico with a 10-year career that included stops with the Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat. Luc Longley and Kenny Thomas are also among the Lobo alumni who starred in the National Basketball Association.'
'Paul Weir took over as head coach of the New Mexico Lobos in 2007. Weir immediately went to work proving he was the right man for the job and guided a Lobos team that was projected by many experts to finish seventh in the Mountain West Conference to a third-place finish. In his second season, Weir's Lobos crushed the highly ranked Nevada Wolf Pack and went on to appear in the finals of the Mountain West Championship. As the third year of Weir's coaching reign approaches, the New Mexico Lobos are locked and loaded with their eyes on the top spot in the Mountain West. Lobos' fans should have many reasons to cheer the efforts of Coach Weir and get behind their basketball team.'
