A haven for adrenaline junkies, New Hampshire is United States' premier winter destination thanks to its towering ski mountains and the Mount Washington Auto Road. Skiing, hiking and snowmobiling attract hordes of tourists to Granite State, and so do motorsport events like the Motorcycle Week. Winters are not the only time New Hampshire comes alive, though. Every season brings its own flavor of events to the state, such as fall's annual Pumpkin Festival.
New Hampshire hosts the oldest Scottish festival in the country - the New Hampshire Highland Games - which is a three-day event in Lincoln staged every year. Artists across genres perform at the festival amidst competitive traditional Scottish games. Other annual fixtures on New Hampshire's event calendar include the Motorcycle Week in Weirs Beach, Prescott Park Arts Festival in Portsmouth and Hillsborough Balloon Festival.
Ice hockey, unsurprisingly, is huge in New Hampshire, with the New Hampshire Wildcats playing to raucous support at Whittemore Center, their home ground in Durham. Gig goers should visit the town of Derry, which is the hub of live music performances in New Hampshire.
