'Nevada Wolf Pack Football Tickets'

'The University of Nevada, Reno, football team, nicknamed the Wolf Pack, plays in the Division I Mountain West Conference. When the team was first fielded, the university was the only one of its kind in the entire state. One of the early achievements of the program was when Nevada beat the University of California in 1903, a huge accomplishment given the discrepancy in the size of each school. The program, as did the university, grew over the next few decades. The hiring of Chris Ault in 1976 brought in major changes to the football team. Ault left after 28 years as head coach with a 233-109-1 overall record. Over his tenure, the Wolf Pack moved through several college divisions, gaining its spot in Division I-A in 1992. Some highlights of recent years include losing in a 67–69-point game to Boise State in 2007, which set a record for total points scored in a FBS game, and achieving a 13–1 record in 2010. 'What's the vibe at Nevada Wolf Pack games?'

'

Home games are played at

Mackay Stadium

where approximately 27,000 people can pack into the stands. As you're sitting in the seats, which are over 4,000 feet above sea level, you can get a great view of the stadium. The student section can be rowdy, but they generally keep things clean and are a great addition to the stands. Some Nevada Wolf Pack games have sold out, including match-ups against Bose State and UNLV.

'

'What is the tailgating like?'

'Tailgating can start five hours before kickoff, and everything has to be wrapped up by the time the game begins. Guests are asked to remain in their designated parking areas while tailgating. Propane and charcoal grills are allowed, so feel free to bring along food for a barbecue or picnic. Some people bring huge slabs of meat to cook up for large groups, but you can also feel comfortable bringing along less substantial dishes. It's all about having fun out in the parking lots before the game starts.'

'Who are the biggest rivals of the Wolf Pack?'

'

Games against

Boise State

and UNLV bring in the biggest crowds. The

UNLV

is an interstate rivalry and filled with intensity. The rivalry against Boise State is competitive, especially since Boise State has been quite successful in recent years. It's amazing when the underdog gets to come out on top against the favorite.

'

'Who are some of Nevada's most famous former players?'

'Recruiting Colin Kaepernick was a major score for the Nevada Wolf Pack. He saw significant playing time even as a freshman. In his sophomore year, he won the WAC Offensive Player of the Year, following that as a second-team All-WAC quarterback in his junior year. At the end of his senior season, he became the second FBS quarterback to have 20 rushing and 20 passing touchdowns in a single season. He led the team to share the WAC title. Stan Heath was another notable quarterback for the team, having played in the 1940s. He was the first NCAA quarterback to accumulate over 2,000 passing yards in a season, and he came in fifth place in Heisman Trophy voting in 1948.'

'What are some of the non-conference games the Wolf Pack has coming up?'

'In 2019, the team will take on Oregon, Purdue, Weber State, and UTEP. The 2020 schedule brings in UTEP and UC Davis to the Nevada campus with away games being held at Penn State and South Florida. In 2021, New Mexico State and Idaho State come into town.'
