The 16 teams meet each other in the first playoff round of their respective conference. 8 teams (4 winners in each conference) then move on to the second playoff round. The 4 winning teams (2 in each conference) then play each other in the third round to determine the Eastern and Western Conference Championship winners. The 2 Conference Championship winners meet each other in the NBA Finals and play for the chance to bring home the NBA Championship and the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy.
