Brothers Josh, Luis and Sammy Morales founded Miel San Marcos at the Revival Tabernacle in their Guatemalan hometown of San Marcos in 2000. Recorded in front of a live audience, their debut album, Viene Por Mí, arrived a year later and was followed by 2002's He Ahí El Cordero, 2003's Exáltate Señor and 2004's Digno Es Él.
The group continued to spread the word, both in the brothers' native Guatemala and across South, Latin and North America, throughout the decade, adding Eres Mi Dios to their discography in 2006 and Dios Es Real in 2008. In 2010, the trio founded a younger spin-off version named the Miel San Marcos Kids, which released its debut album, Celebremos, later that same year.

In 2012, Miel San Marcos invited several renowned worshippers, including Fernel Monroy, Juan Carlos Alvarado, Ovidio Barrios, Tony Perez and Coalo Zamorano, to participate in Proezas, a live album recorded at Los Angeles's Anaheim Convention Center.
Two years later, the brothers performed in front of 17,000 people at the Mexico City Arena. Also featuring guest spots from Marco Barrientos, Julio Melgar and Christine D'Clario, the event's accompanying live album, Como en el Cielo, reached the top of the iTunes Latino chart and later won the Dove Award for Spanish Language Album of the Year. The trio has also received recognition at Mexico's Premios Arpa, Venezuela's Premios Arca and Guatemala's Vision Music Awards.
In 2016, the group eschewed its usual live-album approach to record its very first full-length studio effort, Tu Habitación. A year later, the brothers proved just how much their international fan base had grown when they took to the stage at New York's Madison Square Garden. Supported by the Miel San Marcos Kids, the sold-out performance became the band's tenth official album, Pentecostés.
