Founded in 1866, the Michigan Wolverines is one of the oldest baseball programs in the NCAA. In over 150 years, the Wolverines have made eight appearances in the College World Series and 24 appearances in NCAA Tournaments. They currently hold 40 Conference titles and 2 NCAA titles. The Michigan Hall of Honor was established in 1978 to honor top athletes at the University of Michigan. Some former Wolverines baseball players inducted include Casey Close, Steve Boros, Bill Mogk, Neil Snow and Francis Wistert. The College Baseball Hall of Fame has inducted some former Wolverine baseball players as well, including Jim Abbott, Barry Larkin, Branch Rickey and George Sisler. ''Erik Bakich was named the 19th Head Coach for the Wolverines in 2012. Bakich began his coaching career as Volunteer Assistant Coach at Clemson in 2002. Since becoming the Wolverines’ head coach, he has led them to seven Big Ten Tournament appearances, one Big Ten Conference Tournament title and three NCAA Tournament bids. Thirty-one of his players have been selected in the MLB draft. Bakich works with Assistant Head Coach/Infielders Coach Nick Schnabel, who is also the recruiting coordinator. Assistant Coach/Pitchers Coach is Chris Fetter, and the Volunteer Assistant Coach is Max Gordon.'
