The Michigan Tech Huskies are one of the older teams in NCAA hockey. The team got its start during the 1919-20 season. At the time, the school the Huskies represent was known as the Michigan College of Mines. Since then, a lot of things have changed. However, the Huskies have always had a strong squad. They've made it to the NCAA tournament 13 times. The team's golden era came in the 1960s and 1970s, when they were coached by college hockey legend John J. MacInnes. In recent years, the Huskies have once again been building a nationally recognized program. Since the 2014-15 season, Michigan Tech has won the WCHA conference title twice and made it to the NCAA tournament three times. During the 2019-20 season, for example, the Huskies swept Ferris State's
Bulldogs
in their season series. In recent seasons, notable Huskies players have included Mitch Reinke, Brian Halonen and goaltender Matt Jurusik. Get your Michigan Tech Huskies Hockey tickets at StubHub.

The Huskies' most notable rivalry is with the
Northern Michigan University Wildcats
. These teams have played over 150 times since the 1970s. For many years, they played in different conferences and only met for events like the Great Lakes Invitational. However, they've also met up in the Frozen Four. These teams are generally evenly matched when they meet up. Northern Michigan currently leads the series but not by much.
