The Michigan State Spartans play at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing, Mich. The
Munn Ice Arena
was first opened in 1974. This is one of the great classic buildings in NCAA Division I hockey. In the 40-plus years since the building opened, it's been renovated several times. Since the 1999-2000 season, the press box has been modernized, the HVAC system was upgraded, and bleachers were replaced with proper seats with seat backs. Munn Ice Arena is named after Clarence L. Munn, a former football coach and athletic director at Michigan State. Munn's nickname was Biggie, which fit his personality very well.

. Over the course of Cole's career, over 100 of his players have gone on to play in the NHL. In addition to his coaching career, Cole's life in hockey includes a long tenure as a player. He played his college hockey at Michigan State, starting in the 1985-86 season. During his four seasons as a player, the Spartans made it to the Frozen Four three times. Danton Cole's assistants include Chris Luongo and Joe Exter.
''Michigan State has one of the most consistent, high-level NCAA hockey programs in the country. Evidence of this can be seen in the number of NHL players the Spartans have developed over the last several decades. Well-known NHLers, including Rod Brind'Amour, Joe Murphy, Anson Carter, Mackenzie MacEachern and Ryan Miller, all played their college hockey at Michigan State. Brind'Amour has also gone on to have a coaching career behind the bench for the Carolina Hurricanes. The 2019-2020 roster for this team includes four NHL draft picks.'
