'The Miami RedHawks is the storied football team at Ohio’s Miami University. The state boasts a rich football tradition, and the Miami University RedHawks helped build that tradition through more than a century of gridiron success. Its success on the field has earned the team seven division titles, 22 MAC titles and seven bowl victories. Excellent coaching has always been the backbone of the RedHawks on-field success as seven of its coaches have been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. These inductees include Bo Schembechler, Ara Parseghian, Woody Hayes, Earl Blaik, Sid Gillman, George Little and Carm Cozza. Notable alumni that have played in the NFL include two-time Super Bowl Champion Ben Roethlisberger, Bob Babich, Sherman Smith, George Swarn, Quinten Rollins and professional wrestler Brian Pillman. The RedHawks has fierce rivalries with the University of Cincinnati Bearcats and the Ohio University Bobcats. The games between these rivals are intense with a loud crowd, plenty of quarterbacks eating dirt and excitement. The games are a battle for pride and who can claim the best football team in Ohio. The Miami RedHawks' biggest rivals are the
University of Cincinnati Bearcats
and the
Ohio University Bobcats
. Each year, Miami and Cincinnati compete for the Victory Bell trophy. The trophy is awarded to the winner of the annual contest on the gridiron. Though less known in the NCAA football world, the Victory Bell game is one of the oldest rivalry games in college football. It predates the Michigan-Ohio State game and the Rice-Texas game. The action on the field and in the stands is nothing short of exciting. This year, the Victory Bell game is an away game in Cincinnati, but the RedHawks are looking for their fans to support them on the road.
''Throughout its 100-plus year history, the Miami RedHawks have had some impressive players make it to the NFL. The most notable of these players is none other than two-time Super Bowl winner and Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Other notable alumni include linebacker Bob Babich, cornerback Quinten Rollins, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton and WCW Wrestler Brian Pillman.'
'Since 1888, the Miami RedHawks have set an impressive college football record.
