'The Miami Hurricanes women's basketball team is a member of the NCAA's Atlantic Coast Conference. The first year of play for the program was the 1972-1973 season. The team was 2-6 under coach Barry Schimer in its first year and went 16-15 during Schimer's three years as head coach. The women's basketball team at Miami University was invited to its first NCAA appearance in 1989 and has appeared in the tournament a total of 14 times. The Hurricanes advanced to the second round of the tournament seven times and its most successful tournament run was in 1992 when the team advanced to the Sweet Sixteen round. The Miami Hurricanes women's basketball team emerged as regular-season Big East conference champions in 1992 and 1993 with 18-0 and 15-3 conference records, respectively. Mykea Gray is a junior guard who played her high school basketball at the National Christian Academy in Upper Marlboro, Md. Gray is one of three current Hurricanes who played in each of the team's 34 games in 2018-2019. Gray is averaging 12.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in the 2019-2020 season.
