Metropolitan Opera - New York tickets

Metropolitan Opera Tickets

A group of wealthy businessmen got together and established the Metropolitan Opera in 1883. Their goal was to own a theater, so they opened one on Broadway near 39th Street in New York City. Today, the season begins in the fall and goes through spring. Since then, there have been several talented singers as well as crews behind the scenes working together to put on shows worthy of being broadcast in cinemas and television. In the early years, leadership and management changed several times. At one point, all shows were performed in Italian, then in German. Now, most works are performed in their original language with subtitles. There are exceptions.
