Although they're called the Memphis Hustle, the team actually plays their home games in Southaven, Miss. The team was created prior to the 2017-18 season out of necessity. Previously, the Memphis Grizzlies and the Minnesota Timberwolves had co-owned the Iowa Energy, but when Minnesota purchased the majority of the team, the Grizzlies had to find a new G-League squad. Although they missed the playoffs in their inaugural season, the team's offense showed early signs of life. Paced by leading scorers Myke Henry and Marquis Teague, the Hustle had the seventh overall offense in the G-League that season. In year two, the team improved significantly, put up a 28-22 record, which was second in the league, and made it to the playoffs. After winning in the first round of the 2018-19 playoffs, the Memphis Hustle fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the conference semifinals. 'Jason March is the current head coach of the Memphis Hustle, returning to the organization where he got his coaching start. March, a Florida State University graduate, spent a total of nine seasons working for the Grizzlies before leaving to be an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings. While working for the Grizzlies, Coach March spent six years in the video department before serving for two seasons as an assistant coach. March's first job in the NBA was as an assistant video coordinator with the Phoenix Suns from 2005-2007.
