'Matthew Good is one of Canada's favorite artists. In the '90s, his eponymous band was one of the biggest alt-rock acts in the country. He's also a writer and an avid golfer. In addition to working solo, Good also works as a mental health activist. He's still touring in support of his recent releases and bringing his music to fans around the world.'

Matthew Good grew up in BC in the suburbs of Vancouver. He got his start writing lyrics for a folk band he knew from school, and eventually, the members invited him to sing with them. At the age of 20, Good learned to play the guitar and started properly writing his own songs. His first significant gig as an adult was as the lead singer of The Rodchester Kings. After being discovered at Simon Fraser University, the band signed to a major label and went on tour. By 1995, the members had broken up. In the wake of the breakup, Good formed the Matthew Good Band. That band was together from 1995 to 2001 and had several major hits in Canada. It released four full-length albums, including 1999's No. 1
Beautiful Midnight
. When the band broke up, Good embarked on his solo career. He's been incredibly prolific, releasing eight albums since 2003. Six of his solo albums have reached the Top 10 on Canada's charts.

''Matthew Good often performs as a true solo artist - just a man and his guitar. He gives bold, brave, focused performances. In the past, he played with artists such as Dave Genn, Ian Browne, Geoff Lloyd and Rich Priske. One of his earliest bandmates at the university was guitarist Simon Woodcock.'
'Although he conquered Canada's rock airwaves with songs like Everything is Automatic, Matthew Good's roots are in the world of folk music. He performs both acoustic concerts and plugged-in ones. Good knows how to court a crowd. During his shows, he flirts and courts praise. This is a far cry from his early career. In the '90s, Good embraced the irony and sarcasm that helped define the alt-rock scene. For example, he would print merch with snarky slogans proclaiming himself to be a jerk. Today's Matthew Good is much more sincere. He'll announce to his audiences that he intends to make them feel something, and although he delivers some gentle ribbing from the stage, he no longer starts beefs with other bands. Good is still writing, and he plays a lot of new material. However, he has an extensive back catalog and uses it wisely.'
