Mat Franco was born in 1988 in Rhode Island and was raised in his childhood home. At the age of four, he became very interested in magic after watching magicians perform on a television show. Nearly entirely self-taught, Franco began performing magic in his self-produced street shows at the age of ten. At age 12 he joined a three-day program in Las Vegas that provided him the opportunity to study under world-famous magicians from NBC's

After high school and years of honing his magic skills, Franco went to the University of Rhode Island where he obtained a bachelor's degree in the study of Business Administration and minored in communications. During his time at college, Franco performed for his peers, and he quickly discovered that they were the perfect target audience for his humor-infused magic tricks.
