''Marquette plays in the Big East conference alongside teams from Illinois, New York and Pennsylvania, among others. Recently, the title of the conference was purchased by Marquette and its rivals in a branding effort to focus on basketball. Football is no longer sponsored by the organization, so when you talk about the Big East these days, you can be confident that your love of basketball is being expressed.'
'The 2018-2019 season was a fairly successful one for the Golden Eagles. It had an 24-10 overall record with a 12-6 record within the Big East conference. This marks an improvement over the previous season and under the direction of Head Coach Steve Wojciechowski, things continue to look up. The 2019-2020 season is looking to be an exciting one for the Eagles.'
'Fans of the Golden Eagles may easily consider all other members of the Big East conference its rivals, but there is particularly intense completion among the so-called Catholic Seven. Along with Marquette, the other schools in the Catholic Seven include DePaul, Georgetown, Providence, St. Johns, Seton Hall and Villanova. Along with these rivals, Marquette actually formed a new basketball league and ultimately bought back the name Big East that they had historically played under.'

The Golden Eagles' team member to have attained almost unquestionably the most fame in the NBA is Dwyane Wade, who played for the school from 2001-2003. He went on to a notable career with the
Miami Heat
, leading the team to three NBA Championships in 2006, 2012 and 2013. Another significant player is Markus Howard, who is currently the second-highest scoring player ever on the team. As he finishes his college career in the 2019-2020 season, it will be thrilling to watch him attempt to break the record and become the highest-scoring Eagle of all time.
