Mac King is a comedy magician, illusionist and author from Kentucky who has soared to national fame after a series of television shows as well as his steady show at Harrahs Las Vegas. Well-known for his quirky antics onstage, King employs a variety of unusual props for his performances, including such things as Fig Newtons, goldfish and a yellow raincoat that doubles as an invisibility cloak.

Though born and raised in Kentucky, Mac King attended college in Saint Paul, Minnesota, graduating in 1981 from Macalester College with a dual major in Anthropology and Magic. In addition to his magical talents, Mac King is also a writer. He has co-authored several books, all of them on the topic of magic, teaching his readers simple to learn tricks of the trade.

Mac King has co-authored three books, all dealing with teaching the reader magic tricks. His first book, Tricks with your Head, was written with Mark Levy and has a humorous slant to creating magic with various parts of the reader’s anatomy. His second book, Campfire Magic: Over 50 Amazing and Easy-to-Learn Mind-blowing Stunts, was co-authored with Bill King. Finally, his third book was The Great Big Ol’ Book of Magic. He has also written a comic strip named Magic in a Minute.

His unique style has warranted his appearance on the NBC’s The World’s Greatest Magician, during which he taught the audience a small trick before and after commercial breaks. These magical tidbits were called “Mac King’s School of Magic.” King has a regular show at the Harrah’s Las Vegas in the Clint Holmes Theater called The Mac King Comedy Magic Show, which is billed as a family-friendly performance. He also does private corporate events.

Once during a performance, Mac King accidentally cut his thumb with a pair of sharp scissors during a cut-and-restore rope trick. He called out to the audience, asking if there were any nurses, and one replied. She temporarily fixed the issue so he could continue his performance.

Mac King is the only magician to have appeared in all five specials of NBC’s World’s Greatest Magic.

Mac King has been named “Magician of the Year” by the Magic Castle in Hollywood, as well as having been voted the 6^th best show in all of Vegas.
