'During this exciting year of Ramblers' basketball, you can cheer on the home team. Porter Moser is in his seventh year leading the team as head coach. He is coming off the team's first-round NIT appearance in 2019 and the Cinderella season of 2018, in which the Ramblers made the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament. Seniors Bruno Skokna and Jake Baughman return to the lineup for the Ramblers as the team hopes to reignite some magic from the past seasons. Larry Knight, Alfredrick Hughes and Jack Kerris are a few of the past Ramblers who have played at the pro level, having been picked high in the NBA draft. The Ramblers have many rivals in the Missouri Valley Conference. However, some of the biggest rivalries are with fellow Illinois-based schools, including
Bradley
, Illinois State and
Southern Illinois
. In 2018, the inaugural Battle for Illinois rivalry series was played against these teams. Loyola won first place during this series.
''The Ramblers have appeared in six NCAA Tournaments, and they have a combined record of 13–5. The program's only national championship occurred in 1963. In 2018, the team made only its second Final Four appearance after defeating Kansas State. However, they would end up losing to the No. 3 seeded Michigan with a final score of 69–57.'
'In addition to NCAA Tournament appearances, the Ramblers have also played in five National Invitation Tournaments (NIT). They have a combined record of 6–5, and the team has reached the championship game twice in school history.'
'If you are a fan or alumni of Loyola, you're welcomed to the pregame reception in the Den at the Damen Student Center. All alumni, parents and friends of the athletics department are greeted with a Game Day Reception. If you cannot attend the reception, you will definitely want to show your Rambler pride by wearing maroon and gold attire. The 101 to 103 and 113 to 114 seats are the student sections, so you can expect to see a lot of pride on display. The Band of Wolves play at all home basketball games. While you are there, you might even see an appearance by the team's mascot, LU Wolf.'
