In 2019, the Los Angeles Sparks became the first team in WNBA history to reach 450 wins with a winning percentage among active WNBA teams of .606 and the second-highest in the history of the league. One of the original franchise teams when the WNBA was developed, the Sparks also led all teams in the league in most playoff appearances and most playoff wins. The team is one of four teams to have won three WNBA championships. The Sparks won the national title in 2001, 2002 and 2016. The break was created to allow WNBA players to participate in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.
