Longacre Theatre
The Longacre Theatre was designed by Henry Beaumont Herts and first opened in 1921. The theater takes its name from the original name of Times Square: Longacre Square. The Longacre Theatre was once believed to have a cursed attached to it, thanks to the fact that the owner of the Boston Red Sox sold Babe Ruth's contract to another team in order to fund the theater. However, other than a short stint as a television studio, the Longacre Theatre has functioned as a Broadway theater since its opening. The hit play
A Bronx Tale
holds the box office record at the Longacre Theatre, and the original musical
The Prom
debuted here. You can purchase your Longacre Theatre tickets at StubHub.
The Longacre Theatre has a seating capacity of 1,091, which makes it one of the smaller Broadway theaters.
The Longacre Theatre has three seating sections: the orchestra, the mezzanine and the balcony. Because of its smaller size, there really is no bad seat in the Longacre Theatre. However, if you want a closer view of the stage and action, then you will want to opt for a seat in the middle of the orchestra section. If you want a better overview of the entire stage, then opt for a seat in the middle of the mezzanine section. The Longacre Theatre also has box seating available for a more private theater-going experience.
The Longacre Theatre does offer accessibility seating in the orchestra section only. The other seating sections do have stairs, and the elevator does not accommodate all wheelchair types, so they are not accessible. The Longacre Theatre also offers assistive listening devises, audio description software and hand-held captioning devices for their patrons who have vision or hearing impairments.
For your little ones who are under the age of four, you will need to hire a babysitter, as the Longacre Theatre does not allow them into the theatre. For children over the age of four, if they can sit for an extended amount of time, they should be fine to attend with a parent or guardian.
The Longacre Theatre offers a limited selection of food and snacks, including popcorn and candy, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink choices at the concession stand.
With an excellent location right in the Broadway district, the Longacre Theatre is close by other entertainment options. After you purchase your Longacre Theatre tickets, you can also grab tickets for shows at the
Eugene O'Neil Theatre
, the
Brooks Atkinson Theatre
or the
Marquis Theatre
. The Longacre Theatre is also very near Times Square, which offers you a ton of different choices when it comes to shopping and dining before or after your show.
