Known mostly for producing albums and performing as a backup musician, Larry Campbell has been winning awards and performing next to some of the biggest names in the business for over two decades. For his work producing, he’s taken home two Grammys for both albums Dirt Farmer and Electric Dirt. Furthermore, he’s recorded and toured with the likes of Bob Dylan, Levon Helm, Judy Collins, Sheryl Crow, B.B. King and Willie Nelson.
As the original bass member of Bob Dylan’s band, he performed in the popular Never Ending Tour from 1997 to 2004. In addition, once their guitarist J.J. Jackson left, Campbell got the chance to expand his musical horizons as his replacement. However, his urge to become a solo artist/duet with his wife, Teresa, hit an all-time high in 2005. Releasing his first solo acoustic album that year – titled Rooftops – he was soon awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Americana Music Association and named 2013’s Instrumentalist of the Year.
Larry Campbell’s television appearances include (but are not limited to) Austin City Limits, Gauguin The Savage, late night shows with Jay Leno, Jimmy Fallon, Conan O’Brien and David Letterman, Sheryl Crowe’s The Unbroken Circle, Gettysburg and much more. His filmography consists of They All Laughed, Brokeback Mountain, August Rush, Where The Heart Is, Taking Woodstock, Gods and Generals and much more.
