Landmark Theatre - Syracuse
The Landmark Theatre has been serving the entertainment needs of Syracuse since 1928. It opened as Loew's State Theater, a classic movie theater in the 1920s movie palace style. After closing for two years, the Landmark was saved from destruction in 1977 when it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. This luxurious venue now hosts several different types of shows. There are music concerts with such performers as
Bob Dylan
,
Steely Dan
and
Weird Al Yankovic
. The Landmark hosts several touring productions for children each year like
Sesame Street Live
. It also has runs of the touring companies of Broadway musicals, such as
Les Miserables
and
Book of Mormon
. You can take in a show in classic style when you buy Landmark Theatre tickets at StubHub.
The Landmark Theatre seating capacity is 3000, and it is on two levels. The front of the orchestra level gets you closest to the stage for a more intimate performance. For larger musicals, a seat at the front of the balcony may give you the best view of the whole stage. If you are bringing small children to a performance, you may want to have some space between you and the stage as the sound volume, lighting and special effects can be overwhelming.
The Landmark has wheelchair-friendly seating on the orchestra level. There are wheelchair-accessible restrooms on the main entry level. The theater also offers assistive listening devices for those with hearing issues.
Downtown Syracuse offers many dining options at several price points. You can find anything from a slice of pizza to a sit-down dining experience. There are several taverns with craft beers at the nearby Armory Square.
There is no on-site parking at the Landmark with the exception of a few spaces for patrons with disabilities. Guests attending Landmark Theatre events will find metered street parking throughout the area. Meters are active from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking is free on Sundays.
The Landmark Theatre hosts several children's productions every year. As you plan your visit for your specific Landmark Theatre event, keep in mind that the theater does not supply booster seats, and outside food is not permitted.
Concession stands are open during shows offering candy, soda, coffee and bottled water. During Broadway touring productions and some music concerts, beer and wine are available to patrons over 21.
