The Kentucky Wildcats Football team got their start in 1881. The school underwent a couple of name changes, so the Kentucky Wildcats became official in 1913. The squad has seen a few head coaches since its inception. Mark Stoops is the brother of Bob Stoops, the former head coach of
Oklahoma
for many seasons. In addition to producing Hall of Famers, All-Americans and other individual award recipients, the squad has been to 18 bowl games. Their two Hall of Famers are Dermontti Dawson and George Blanda. Blanda was inducted with the 1981 class after playing for four NFL teams including the

''Kroger Field is where home games for the Kentucky Wildcats football team take place. Located in Lexington, Kentucky, the stadium resides on the campus of the University of Kentucky. It has a capacity of 61,000. It was known as the Commonwealth Stadium until 2017. The first game at this venue was played on September 15, 1973. It was renovated in 2015 and received several upgrades as well as an expansion. A new scoreboard and LED lights were among the upgrades.'

Since 2013, Mark Stoops has been the head coach for the Kentucky Wildcats Football team. Stoops was the defensive back for
Iowa
from 1986 to 1988. He has been coaching since 1990 with assignments at

, Wyoming and Arizona. While his record at Kentucky is just under the .500 mark, his team has shown promise under his leadership. In 2017, the Wildcats finished 7-5. In 2018, the team went 9-3. This was the only time in its history the squad finished a season with nine wins.
