'The Jupiter Hammerheads, the Class-A Advanced affiliate of the Miami Marlins, have called Jupiter, Fla., home since 1998. Before becoming an affiliate of the Marlins, the franchise had a lengthy run with the now defunct Montreal Expos. The team started in 1969 as the West Palm Beach Expos and remained the Expos' affiliate for 29 seasons, the longest tenure of any team that served in Montreal's farm system. Over the course of those 29 seasons, the Expos made it to the postseason 10 times and won two Florida State League championships. Prior to the 1998 season, the team relocated to Jupiter, and by 2002, the Marlins had taken over as the parent organization. After making the playoffs as an affiliate of the Marlins in 2002 and 2003, the Hammerheads went on an eight year postseason drought. That drought ended in 2012 when the Hammerheads came up just short in the Florida State League Championship Series. Unfortunately, the Hammerheads haven't made it back to the playoffs since. 'The Miami Marlins brought in a familiar face to manage the Jupiter Hammerheads in 2020. Mike Jacobs enters his first season as the manager of the Hammerheads and his fourth season overall as a manager in the Marlins' organization. Marlins fans may remember Jacobs from his playing days, when he spent three seasons as the first baseman of the major league squad. Jacobs was drafted by the New York Mets but was traded to the Marlins after six seasons in New York's farm system. Coach Jacobs started his managerial career in the Marlins' system in 2017 when he lead the Short Season New York-Penn League Batavia Muckdogs to a 30-45 record. He returned to the squad in 2018 and posted a 36-40 record. Jacobs also coached the Clinton LumberKings of the Midwest League to a 78-61 record and an appearance in the finals last season.'
