Juli�n �lvarez's early career

Born in Concordia Chiapas, Mexico, Juli�n �lvarez began his musical journey at an early age, performing in public for the first time in a children's competition when he was six or seven years old (he won second place). While studying engineering in college, he was discovered by Aldo Sarabia and Joel Lizarraga (from the famous Banda el Recodo) who persuaded him to leave college and tour with them. While with Banda el Recodo he honed his craft, combining his lyrical voice with the band's invigorating mix of traditional and contemporary Mexican songs and ballads, all richly orchestrated with trumpets, trombones, tubas and clarinets.

After eight months with the group, he struck out on his own and formed Banda MS, a group of young musicians who combined contemporary song stylings with traditional brass instrumentation. With Banda MS, he made his first successful recordings, including Mi Mayor Anhelo.

Juli�n �lvarez's international breakthrough

In 2006, Juli�n �lvarez formed his own band, Juli�n �lvarez y Su Norte�o Banda, a group that follows the same musical traditions: contemporary romantic song stylings paired with full, rich traditional brass ensembles and accordion. Leading this group, �lvarez became an international superstar, with album sales reaching gold, platinum and double platinum. He continues to reach an international audience with hits like the passionate traditional ballad El Amor De Su Vida, the intensely romantic M�rchate and the jaunty, energetic novelty song Las Mulas de Moreno.

Juli�n �lvarez's career milestones

In 2014, Juli�n �lvarez joined the cast of La Voz��_Mexico (the Mexican version of The Voice) as a coach, and gained acclaim when his student, Guido Rochin, won the contest. In 2015 Juli�n �lvarez released one of his biggest career hits, El Amor De Su Vida, which reached No. 1 among Latin songs on iTunes in both Mexico and the US. In 2016, his album Mis �dolos, Hoy Mis Amigos!!! reached No. 1 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart.
