'Born Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez in Columbia in 1972, Juanes got his start in music studying piano at 2 years old. He formed his first band, Ekhymosis, at 17 years old. With that band, he proceeded to put out eight studio albums, finding renown throughout his home nation, in particular with the single Dos. When Ekhymosis disbanded in 1997, Juanes launched his solo career. In 2019, the Latin Recording Academy named Juanes its Person of the Year.'
'In his early years, Juanes played primarily heavy metal, thrash metal and other forms of hard rock. Later in his career, he switched to Latin pop and Spanish rock, including cumbia. On a current Juanes tour, you're more likely to hear the latter. A multi-instrumentalist in addition to a singer, Juanes plays guitar, piano, violin, flute and trumpet, including in concert. In addition to his own songs, Juanes is a frequent featured guest on tracks by other artists like Laura Pausini, Nelly Furtado, Juan Luis Guerra, Los Tigres del Norte, Santana and Juan Gabriel.'
