German opera singer Jonas Kaufmann is one of the world's premier opera singers. He has been dubbed, The world's greatest tenor.
His onstage opera career dates back to the mid-90s. Kaufmann has won Gramophone Awards and one Opera Award.
His newest album, L'Opera, debuted in September to critical acclaim. NPR lauded Kauffman as, one of the few tenors to be able to float the final B-flat in a soft pianissimo.
His world tour will include songs from the new album, as well as some fan favorites from his previous ones. He's also expected to sing a few of his most highly praised songs from various operas.

Kaufmann's history in the opera world is wildly impressive, yet it hasn't spanned many decades. His professional career began in 1994 at Staatstheater Saarbrücken. His career was solidified in 1999 when he first premiered at the Salzburg Festival in Busoni's Doktor Faust. He recorded his first album in 2007, and it debuted in 2008. It was titled Romantic Arias.
The pinnacle of Kauffman's career thus far has been his performances at the Metropolitan Opera. He has performed there twice. His debut was in La Traviata as Alfredo in 2006. The performance was received very highly amongst critics.
His second stint at the Metropolitan Opera was to be in Die Walküre, but unexpected surgery ultimately derailed his final performances.

Kaufmann has been married twice, and both of his wives are in the opera industry. His first wife was Margarete Joswig, a mezzo-soprano, with whom he has three children with. His current wife is Christiane Lutz, and opera director.
Fans were terrified when Kaufmann needed to go in for surgery in 2011. A lymph node had developed in his chest. The surgery was successful, and he was back on tour shortly after his recovery.

One of Kaufmann's biggest hits include his role as Alfredo in the Metropolitan Opera's production of La Traviata. His songs He was highly regarded in 2015 when he performed Rule Britannia. He was the first German singer to perform the traditional British song. His rendition of e lucevan le stele and Che gelida manina are also highly regarded amongst critics.
