Canadian singer-songwriter Jann Arden reached the peak of her mainstream fame in the late '90s with pop hits like Could I Be Your Girl and Insensitive, yet the eight-time Juno Award winner continues to achieve critical acclaim both in the studio and on the live stage.
Jann Arden honed her skills on the club and festival circuit in her native Canada and pursued independent efforts for more than a decade before releasing her first full-length album in 1993. Time for Mercy produced several singles, the first of which, I Would Die for You, won Arden her first Juno Award.
She gained greater recognition outside of Canada with her second album, 1994's Living Under June. The single Insensitive reached No. 12 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Also notable was the radio hit Could I Be Your Girl and the track Unloved, which featured a guest appearance by Jackson Browne. Arden followed up with 1997's introspective Happy? and the love-and-optimism-themed Blood Red Cherry in 2001. A greatest hits album and Live with the Vancouver Symphony were Arden's next offerings, after which she took a brief hiatus from music.
Arden had a solid comeback album with 2003's Love is the Only Soldier and two years later with Jann Arden. In 2005 and again in 2007, she toured internationally with Michael Bubl̩, whom she would later collaborate with as a songwriter. Arden also embarked upon a Canadian tour in 2007 in support of her first covers album, Uncover Me.
Jann Arden's 10th studio album, Free, was released in 2009 and charted in the Top 10 in Canada. She followed it with a string of successful albums, including Uncover Me, Vol. 2., another studio album, Everything Almost, and in 2015, her first Christmas album.
A two-time Female Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year, Arden boasts 17 top 10 singles in Canada, a star on Canada's Walk of Fame and the Western Canadian Music Awards' International Achievement Award.
