, Stanford, Pepperdine and UCSB are long-standing rivals of the Hawaii Warriors men’s volleyball team. The Hawaii Warriors have won the Outrigger Volleyball Invitational Tournament nine times. The Outrigger Volleyball Tournament is one of the main attractions for the early season collegiate volleyball tournaments nationwide. Three outstanding players were on the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team: Colton Cowell, Rado Parapunov and Joe Worsley. Mike Walton won AVCA Coach of the Year awards in 1995 and 2002; Josh Walker won AVCA Assistant Coach of the Year award in 2019, the same year the Hawaii Warriors captured their first Big West Conference title in 2019. Who is the Hawaii Warriors' head coach?

Charlie Wade has been instrumental in making the Hawaii Warriors national championship contenders. The Hawaii Warriors were the runner-up at the NCAA Championship game in 2019 at Long Beach State. This honor earned coach Charlie Wade the AVCA National Coach of the Year award. Wade has been at the helm of the Hawaii Warriors for ten years. His overall record is very compelling at 181-108 (.626), and the conference record is 111-85. Since becoming head coach, Wade has had one of the top three winningest seasons on record. Under his leadership, the Hawaii Warriors have made a total of eight trips to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and Big West Conferences. Wade had previously coached at Pacific, Magnum and CS Fullerton. Josh Walker and Milan Zarkovic are the assistant coaches. The volunteer coach is Chad Giesseman.

The Stan Sheriff Center, named after the University of Hawaii athletics director Stan Sheriff, hosted the first men’s volleyball match on January 25, 1995, against the Loyola Marymount. The arena was opened in 1994, and it is home to the men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams. The Stan Sheriff Center was the home of the 2004 NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship. During 1998, the Stan Sheriff Center underwent renovations to include a new state-of-the-art scoreboard, new locker rooms, resurfaced court flooring and expanded training facilities.
