'Hartford Yard Goats Tickets'

'The Hartford Yard Goats is a Double-A minor league baseball affiliate that acquired its unique name from the slang term for a railroad switcher. As the winning entry in a contest, the name recalls the city’s rich history with the railroad. Long before it settled in Hartford, however, the franchise was founded by the Boston Red Sox as a minor league affiliate. Originally named after the Red Sox, the franchise moved from Bristol to New Britain in 1983 and played at the relatively modest Beehive Field. After Minnesota became the new affiliate in 1995, the team changed its name to the Rock Cats and adopted an entirely new persona. In its best-ever season, the Rock Cats made the 2001 championship series against the Reading Phillies, but the games were canceled in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, and both teams were declared co-champions. A change of ownership in 2012 ushered in a new era for the team, which then relocated to Hartford a mere 12 miles away in 2016. Fans of the team can catch a game by purchasing Hartford Yard Goats tickets at StubHub.'
