Grand Ole Opry House
The Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville started hosting performances in 1974, replacing the
Ryman Auditorium
as the venue for the weekly
Grand Ole Opry
radio show. To help carry on the long-standing tradition, a six-foot circle of oak cut from the Ryman's stage was inlaid into the new center stage at the Opry House. The Opry House still hosts the radio show, which is broadcast each Saturday night. Other performances are held regularly throughout the spring, summer and fall, generally on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The site has historical importance, and it is included on the National Register of Historic Places. Nearly all of the big names in country music have performed at the Grand Ole Opry House, including
Dolly Parton
,
Brad Paisley
and
The Charlie Daniels Band
. Grand Ole Opry House tickets can be purchased at StubHub.
The exact address for the Grand Ole Opry House is 2804 Opryland Drive in Nashville. This spot has a convenient location near Highway 155, and it is right next to the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. This sprawling complex is adjacent to Opry Mills, a modern shopping center with outlet stores and restaurants. All of this property is nestled between the highway and the Cumberland River, across the river from East Nashville.
There is paid on-site parking at the venue for guests attending Grand Ole Opry House events. Free parking is located a bit farther away, around the Opry Mills complex.
Just over 4,000 people can be accommodated at the Opry House. There is a lower level, with sections one through seven being closest to the stage and sections eight through 15 being in the second tier of seats. The upper level is also divided into two main parts, with sections 16 through 24 being closer to the stage than sections 25 through 37.
Accessible seating is readily available, but those specific tickets need to be purchased if one wishes to sit in these areas. Some wheelchairs are available at the Grand Ole Opry House on a first-come, first-served basis. All levels of the concert hall have accessible public restrooms, and there are elevators and wheelchair lifts to help people get to different levels.
Each event differs in terms of being family-friendly. Any child who is four years of age or older requires a ticket for admittance into the Opry House. Those younger than four can enter for free as long as they sit on an adult's lap.
There are a few concessions stands in the lobby. Items like hot dogs, pizza, popcorn and soda are available, and these can be enjoyed in the auditorium during performances.
