Serving as one of Athens's top music venues and event spaces, Georgia Theatre has been in operation as a music venue for decades. The building itself was constructed by the YMCA of Athens in 1889, and it was then used as various facilities, including a gym, a temple and a music store. 'Most Georgia Theatre performances are scheduled to begin at 9pm, with doors opening at 8pm.'

'The hall was built to have a large, open area in which Georgia Theatre ticket holders can stand to watch shows. A few bar stools may be available for those who wish to rest their feet, but this isn't guaranteed. 'Georgia Theatre events and performances are only open to people age 18 and up. The theater also does show broadcasts of University of Georgia football games. During game days, only guests 21 and over are allowed entry.'

'Guests in wheelchairs are welcome and can be accommodated at any Georgia Theatre event. There is elevator access on every level. If you would like to have an area on the floor reserved so that you can get a good view of the stage, guest services can be contacted ahead of time.'
