About Funk Fest

Funk Fest has a constantly changing lineup that always delivers a fresh and dynamic music experience to screaming fans at all of its continent criss crossing locations. This year's Funk Fest performers will include the likes hard hitting soul funk band Cameo, New York based R&B funk jammers that came onto the music scene in 1974. Originally signing onto the Chocolate City record label, the band put out their debut Cardiac Arrest in 1976, which blew up with four major hit singles that included #3 charting Find My Way, #33 Rigor Mortis, #70 Post Mortem, and #20 Funk Funk. The band's highly anticipated follow ups would come shortly after in 1978, titled We All Know Who We Are and Ugly Ego, which featured a slew of funk classic tracks including the top charting It's Serious and Insane. In 1979 the band released its greatest hit single to date, I Just Want to Be, which hit #3 on the US R&B charts and carried them strongly into the 80s. The band continued to release a steady stream of hit funk jams all throughout the 80s and 90s, with their most recent single Loverboy hitting the #1 position on the US R&B charts and #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Despite numerous lineup changes over the years, Cameo's current lineup consists of Larry Blackmon with support from talented musicians Tomi Jenkins, Anthony Lockett, Aaron Mills, and Charlie Singleton.

Ohio based funk outfit the Zapp Band will also be making their way to Funk Fest, with their G-funk sound sure to deliver a larger than life performance to excited Funk Fest concert goers. The Zapp Band debuted on the mainstream scene in 1980 with the #1 charting hit Zapp, and produced a total of 5 classic albums over the 80s that spawned hits such as More Bounce to the Ounce, Be Alright, Dance Floor, Heartbreaker, I Can Make You Dance, Slow and Easy, and Mega Medley.

World famous singer songwriter R. Kelly will also be making an appearance at this year's Funk Fest, with his decade spanning discography of hits sure to liven up what is already a energetic and action packed event lineup. Debuting to much acclaim with 1993's 12 Play, R Kelly became an overnight sensation as he received six platinum certifications and hit the #1 position on the US R&B and Hip Hop charts. His follow up would be just as hard hitting, hitting #1 on the US Billboard 200 and gaining another five platinum certifications. R Kelly's long catalogue of hits includes fundamental hip hop and funk tracks such as Sex Me, Bump n' Grind, Your Body's Callin', You Remind Me of Something, Down Low (Nobody Has to Know), I Can't Sleep Baby (If I), I Believe I Can Fly, I'm Your Angel, and many, many more.
