The Food City 300 features 300 laps of thunderous short-track racing action. Its title sponsor, Food City, has the distinction as NASCAR’s second longest-running sponsor and also lends its name to NASCAR’s Monster Energy Cup Series race, the Food City 500, held in April at Bristol. The Food City 300 runs on the Friday preceding the famous and often hotly contested night race at Bristol in the Monster Energy Cup Series. Starting in 2020, the Food City 300 and the aforementioned night race move from August to September. Jack Ingram took the first checkered flag in the Food City 300 on August 27, 1982. Kyle Busch’s record 22 wins at Bristol Motor Speedway include five in the Food City 300 (2010, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017). US-based car manufacturers have won the vast majority of the Food City 300 races, with Kyle Busch’s 2010 win being the first in a Toyota. No other foreign-headquartered car makers have won the Food City 300. Purchase your Food City 300 tickets at StubHub and enjoy some

Don’t be surprised if you get to see some of the stars from the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series in the Food City 300 race. In 2020, NASCAR drivers with three or more years of Monster Energy Cup experience may run in up to five Xfinity races. In past years, those veterans could compete in seven Xfinity races but they had to have more than five years of experience. Kyle Busch, a Monster Energy Cup champion, has enjoyed considerable success at Bristol. In fact, he has twice completed the Bristol trifecta of winning the Truck Series, Xfinity and Monster Energy Cup Series races in the same weekend (2010 and 2017). In 2004, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., became the first driver to win both the Food City 250, as it was then called, and the Monster Energy Cup Series Night Race at Bristol.
Since 2012, NASCAR has reduced the fields in its Xfinity races. In 2012, each Xfinity stop featured 43 drivers. This is the same as the current number of competitors in the Monster Energy Cup Series races. NASCAR reduced Xfinity fields to 40 cars in 2013 and 38 for the 2019 campaign. In 2020, Xfinity races such as the Food City 300 will have 36 drivers.
Since 2014, the Food City 300 has taken competitors 300 laps around an 0.533 mile-oval track. The 300 laps translate to 159.9 miles of competition. At its infancy, the Food City 300 went by the name Pet Dairy 150. Since that first race, the lap numbers have increased to 200 and 250 before the current 300 laps.
With seating for more than 150,000 spectators,
Bristol Motor Speedway
resembles, in many respects, a coliseum for drivers and their fans. All four of Bristol’s turns are closed, adding to the feel that you’re watching NASCAR racing in a stadium.
StubHub offers you the chance to buy Food City 300 tickets at the Bristol Motor Speedway in the grandstand, which runs the entire length of the speedway. You’ll find some of the best seats at the start-finish line, though the relatively intimate track allows you adequate views of the paint-trading and other action that makes short-track racing popular. At StubHub, you'll find good prices and good seats for any of the premier events in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
