One of the fastest growing small cities in the country, Fargo, North Dakota, has an enviable mix of plenty of open spaces, a growing economy, and a burgeoning arts and entertainment scene. The city might have shot to fame with its namesake movie, but there is a lot more to it than just 15 seconds of silver-screen fame.
Since Fargo is home to three universities, its arts and theater calendar is choc-a-bloc throughout most of the year. The tradition of theater in Fargo goes back to the days of the Fargo Theatre, which still hosts film festivals, musical plays and ballet performances. The Fargo Winter Carnival is one of the city's long-held traditions, and the Fargodome is where people congregate to catch concert performances. The city has its fair share of intimate, live music venues as well, including The Windbreak, Shotgun Sally's Rock and Roll Saloon, and The Aquarium.
Sports fans also have it good in Fargo. They can root for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, Fargo's minor league baseball team, at Newman Outdoor Field, or catch the Fargo Force, the city's ice hockey team, in action at Scheels Arena.
From large venues such as the Fargo Civic Memorial Auditorium and the Sanctuary Events Center to intimate spaces such as the Red Raven Espresso Parlor and Dempsey's Public House, Fargo offers every kind of experience for entertainment seekers.
