On January 8, 1935 Elvis Aaron Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi and it was not until he was thirteen that he and his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee. With the help of Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis released his first single Heartbreak Hotel which became a number one hit instantly and earned him several television appearances which would eventually prove to be controversial.

His film career began in 1956 when he starred in the movie Love Me Tender. However, two years later he was drafted into the Army and his musical and film career were put on hold for two years. The first television appearances for Elvis Presley were on Stage Show on CBS on which he was booked for six shows. During the years of 1960 to 1967, after returning from the army, Elvis Presley chose to focus on his movie career rather than his music, but made a triumphant return to music in 1968. Elvis was pronounced dead at 3:30 PM on August 16, 1977 after being found dead on his bathroom floor on the day on which he was scheduled to fly out of Memphis heading out on another tour.
