Elephant Revival are not your typical folk band. The Coloradans stitch together a patchwork quilt of sounds, melding traditional Celtic melodies with contemporary beats. Elephant Revival tours are a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll - and everything in between.
Hailing from Nederland, Colo., Elephant Revival comprises of Bridget Law, Bonnie Paine, Daniel Rodriguez, Charlie Rose and Dango Rose. It was in their home state that they carefully crafted their signature performance style, which is of the impromptu, off-the-cuff variety. Elephant Revival often play shows without a setlist, meaning no two live experiences are ever the same.
While Elephant Revival's music is difficult to pigeonhole, there are musical hallmarks embedded in their recordings: a flurry of string instruments, plenty of percussion, jazzy vocals and heartfelt, profound lyrics. The group also showcases a never-ending swirl of genres, from ballsy bluegrass on Ring Around the Moon to dreamy indie-folk on Birds and Stars.
Elephant Revival released their eponymous debut in 2008, a collection of bluegrass-flavored roots music with creamy vocals and earthy instrumentation. Album standouts include Single Beds are Made For One, Jet Lag Blues and Sing to the Mountain. Break in the Clouds, their 2010 sophomore effort, brought more of the same, with hook-laden melodies and guitar-driven folk. The album features songs like Rhythm of the Road, Feathers Rise and Black and Silver.
Commercial success followed with These Changing Skies, the group's 2013 third studio album, which blends toe-tapping beats with social consciousness. The record hit No. 8 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart and No. 13 on the Folk Albums chart. The 12-song set includes the tracks Down to the Sea, Willing and Able and Grace of a Woman. Petals (2016) peaked at No. 20 on Billboard's Folk Albums chart and includes the tracks Hello Who You, Peace Tonight and Home In Your Heart.
Elephant Revival are regulars on the live circuit and have played festivals like Campout for the Cause, WinterWonderGrass, Hillberry and Yonder Harvest.
