The Duquesne Dukes saw significant improvement last year under Keith Dambrot. The 2018-19 season was highlighted by the Dukes' winning records overall and in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Now, the Dukes' team is coming back for the 2019-20 season after spending the summer preseason playing in the Bahamas. Fans should anticipate exciting play from Sincere Carry and Baylee Steele. Baylee Steele is new to the Dukes this year, hailing from Utah Valley. Almost all of last year's roster will be playing this season, so there should be chemistry between the players. Last year's leading scorer, Eric Williams, will be missed. Dambrot's standard lineup is a strategy of two players in the frontcourt and three in the backcourt. Duquesne is participating in the Junkanoo Jam this year, so some of the team's early-season games will be in the Bahamas. When in the Bahamas, the Dukes will play against
Indiana State
, Air Force and Loyola Marymount. The most competition should come from an early home game against Lipscomb. Find Duquesne Dukes basketball tickets at StubHub.

''The Duquesne Dukes team plays in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Last season, the team was ranked sixth in the conference with a 10-8 conference record, an improvement over previous years. The Dukes' last conference tournament championship was in 1977. In addition, the Duquesne Dukes team has not achieved a conference regular-season championship since 1981.'
'The Duquesne Dukes' head coach is Keith Dambrot. He is the school's 17th head coach and is renowned for constructing a winning program in Akron, which he led to 10 NCAA playoff appearances in his 13 years of coaching. His Akron team was a Mid-Atlantic Conference contender in almost every season. In Dambrot's first year of coaching at Duquesne, he achieved the most wins by a first-season coach at the school since the 1948-49 season and had one of the best improvement jumps between seasons. Dambrot is connected to Duquesne through his father, who played for the Dukes when he was in college. The relatively new coach also set the record for the most home wins last year, when the Dukes were playing at A.J. Palumbo Center.'
'The Duquesne Dukes have never won a national title. The last time the Dukes' team made it to the Final Four was in 1940, and the last postseason appearance was in 1977. Dambrot's long-term plan for the team is to return to the NCAA Tournament.'
'The Duquesne Dukes' record last season was 19-13, one of the best records since 2011. The Dukes played much better at home games than on the road, with a 14-5 winning home record.'
