The Dick's Sporting Goods Open debuted in 2007 and is the golf event that supplanted the BC Open. As part of the PGA Tour Champions, the Dick's Sporting Goods Open is held annually in Endicott, N.Y., and it is sponsored by Broome County Community Charities. The 2016 purse for the event was $2 million, and the winner's share of the purse was $300,000. This high-stakes event regularly attracts some of the biggest names in golf. Past tournament participants have included such notable players as Fred Couples and Paul Goydos. For golf fans, an added treat is always the Concert on the Green that is held each year adjacent to the 18th green once Friday play is complete. Past concert performers have included names like Maroon 5 and Tim McGraw. In 2019, Keith Urban was the concert’s feature act while golfer Doug Barron took home the championship. Doug Barron tallied a score of 199 to go 17 under par en route to his 2019 Dick's Sporting Goods championship. Barron started well and his first-round 65 tied him for the lead with Miguel Angel Jimenez. Barron needed 68 and 66 strokes to complete the second and third rounds of the tournament respectively and finished the tournament with a two-stroke lead over runner-up Fred Couples. In 2018, Bart Bryant finished strong with a 65-stroke third round to finish with a score of 200 to earn the 2018 championship. Bryant's score was good enough for a one-stroke lead over runner-up Michael Bradley. It allowed him to pocket the $307,500 winner's share of the tournament purse. Jeff Maggert and Paul Goydos were 2015 and 2016 Dick's Sporting Goods Open Champions respectively.
The top score in the 13-year history of the Dick's Sporting Good Open is the 195 played by Lonnie Nelson to win the 2009 tournament. Scott McCarron posted the second-best score in tournament history when he secured the 2017 championship with a 196. Kevin Sutherland posted the third-best score in tournament history in a losing effort when he finished one stroke behind McCarron with a 197. Ronnie Black and Fred Funk are tied for the fourth-best score ever posted at the Dick's Sporting Goods Open with a 198. Unfortunately for Black and Funk, both their scores came in 1998, the same year that Lonnie Nelson set the all-time tournament record. Three golfers secured tournament victories with scores of 199. R.W. Eaks was first to do so in 2007. He was followed by Eduardo Romero who won with an identical score a year later. Current champion Doug Barron also won the Dick's Sporting Goods Open with a score of 199.
