'The Dayton Flyers boast a storied college basketball program that has become notorious for punching above its weight when it comes time for the NCAA Tournament. It's true that Dayton does not get many players with NBA-type talent on its roster. Instead, Dayton focuses on a team-oriented game that has them perennially near the top of the Atlantic 10 Conference. As a result, Flyers' fans show up for the game and they do so in large numbers. Dayton has been known as a breeding ground for top college coaches. Coaching alumni from the team have gone on to head programs such as Indiana and Georgia Tech. The Flyers team is currently coached by Anthony Grant, who played for the program in the 1980s. Flyers' ticket are generally in demand as the team is popular in Southwest Ohio. 'The Flyers reached the National Championship Game in 1967 before falling to the dominant UCLA Bruins. Dayton has come close to returning to the Final Four since then but has not gotten over the hump. The school reached the Elite Eight in 2014 after pulling off several upsets as a No. 11 seed.'
'Dayton fans love their college basketball, and they prove it with their attendance. Flyers' fans pack the house at the University of Dayton Arena. The Flyer Faithful's religious attendance means that most home games are sellouts and the venue is loud and intimidating for visiting teams. In the 2018-19 season, Dayton ranked in the top 25 in the country in attendance and the school had eight sellouts. In other words, you can always count on Flyers' fans to show up and be raucous.'

''Dayton has historically relied on playing a team game where the squad has many contributors but few stars. Thus, it is rare to find a superstar who played for Dayton. However, the team has had several notable guards in the backcourt over the years. Negele Knight was one of the leading scorers in program history and played nine years in the NBA. Scoochie Smith led the team to one of the greatest periods in the program's history under Archie Miller. During this time, the Flyers were a regular participant in the NCAA Tournament and a perennial threat to make a deep tournament run.'
'UD Arena will be a sea of red and blue during Flyers' games. The student section is called the Red Scare, and Dayton students pride themselves on being lowd. This is a concept invented by the UD students to describe a level of noise that goes beyond just plain loud. The school encourages alumni to come back to campus for basketball games, and they return in large numbers to join the celebration of basketball. Fans will continuously chant This is our house! to remind visiting teams where they are playing.'
