Crocodiles

Hailing from San Diego, the Crocodiles burned up the indie blogosphere before even putting out an album or inking a deal with a label. What stirred the pot was the simple inclusion of the Crocodiles song Neon Jesus on the year's best songs list by fellow noise pop band No Age. Soon after, the Crocodiles released its premiere album, Summer of Hate. The band thrives on catchy choruses and low-fi backdrops. In addition to their own original material, the Crocodiles have teamed up with Dan Treacy, the frontman of the Television Personalities, along with the Dum Dum Girls.

After the demise of hardcore bands The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower and Some Girls, Brandon Welchez and Charles Rowell decided to form a band on their own, the Crocodiles, in 2008. Since then, the band has released a debut LP called Summer of Hate in 2009, their sophomore album Sleep Forever in 2010 and Endless Flowers in 2012 along with Crimes of Passion in 2013. Collaborations on the Crimes of Passion album include Cat Power, Gregg Foreman of Delta 72 and Afrodyete of Breakestra. Since their inception, Welchez and Rowell have also added more members to their lineup, including a bassist, drummer and keyboard player. Musical artists in the live band have included members of The Slits, Cat Power, Dum Dum Girls, A Place To Bury Strangers and Blank Dogs.
