These days, twenty-something ledgebag Chris Lee Marshall is better known to electro house fans as DJ Crizzly. He regularly headlines events with all kinds of collectives and is celebrated as a featured guest in many rowdy and rambunctious collaborations. Crizzly is currently crushing the dubstep and crunkstep scenes with his heavy mixes laden with bass. Surprisingly, however, Crizzly is a rather modest young artist who is always happy to talk to fans, bloggers, and aspiring electro disc jockeys.
Despite his ever rising success, Crizzly's biography section on his website states simply that he likes to, er, funk stuff up. This deceptively simple statement is entirely accurate because it encapsulates not just the tunes he produces and mixes, but also the effect he and his group of buddies are creating in San Antonio's burgeoning EDM scene. Crizzly claims that he crafted such an off-the-cuff self-description because he likes to avoid bland, third-person descriptions of artists. His aim is not to boost his own ego, as he thinks of himself as a constantly evolving individual. He has been creating music for only a short time and is still developing into the person he wants to become.
In the past few years, he has developed his skills in order to mix and produce. He was recently signed to Killpop Records, which provided him with a huge leg up in the industry. He was honored to appear in the 2014 Electric Daisy Carnival, additional weekend gigs around the United States, and to collaborate with Kids At The Bar.
Crizzly is still amazed that he can browse through iTunes and find his own work. He has also observed significant changes in EDM since he began his musical career – production values, including his own, have evolved significantly. Every time Crizzly opens up Ableton, he learns something new. For this reason, he is reluctant to make any official releases, feeling like he has much more to learn.
Although he does not mention any specific artists, Crizzly is grateful to all the successful dubstep artists that inspired him. When he is unsatisfied with the current musical scene, he digs into the past to find gems like WuTang, whom he incorporated into his track Lifted.
The lad once known as Chris Lee Marshall has made major strides in recent years, and his assumption of the DJ Crizzly mantle has yielded great crunkstep success so far. In the summer of 2014, he would spend the season in the tastemaking Vans Warped Tour, which would fill amphitheatres and arenas across North America. He would also be booked for Las Vegas' Electric Daisy Carnival and Lollapalooza, performing in front of tens of thousands of psyched fans.
About five or six years ago, Chris Marshall began to develop an interest in creating EDM after he experimented with a drum pedal to kill time on a winter day. Before that, he had undertaken some elementary musical experimentation with guitar and trombone in middle school. At one point, he covered an electro track with the trombone and created dubstep riffs on his guitar, but he does not use these instruments in his current music.
Make sure that you rest up because you will need all your energy for every single second of Crizzly's pioneering, imaginative, and relentless live show. From beginning to end, Crizzly will amaze you with his original works, remixes, and mashups. His skills with a laptop, sequencer, sampler, synthesizer, drum machine, D.A.W., and CDJ will blow your mind. Where Crizzly truly shines, however, is in his intensity in delivering some of the dirtiest dubstep that you can find in the industry today. Crizzly is guaranteed to give you a show that will have you, your friends, and the critics buzzing for months and months after the fact. Don't miss out on your chance to witness this rising DJ star live and in the flesh. Start planning your Crizzly concert experience today!
