The site of two World's Fairs, Flushing Meadows Corona Park is a busy and vibrant park located in the center of New York City. Formerly a landfill, the area was rehabilitated by Parks Commissioner Robert Moses and used as the site for the 1939-1940 World's Fair. Flushing Meadows Corona Park was also chosen as the site for the 1964-1965 World's Fair by Moses. Meadow Lake, the boathouse, Willow Lake and the New York City Building all date from the 1939-1940 World's Fair, and The Unisphere, the marina and 11 monuments date from the 1964-1965 World's Fair.
